Modern-day Tandang Sora emerges in Cagayan Valley amid COVID-19 outbreak
Laurita Miguel-Baculi took time out from her job as development facilitator of the Department of Agrarian Reform in Cagayan Valley to rally her family in making improvised face shields. The improvised face shields were given to frontliners leading the fight against the highly-infectious virus -- health workers, police, soldiers and barangay public safety officers. The 59-year-old Laurita, her children and other household members produce the face shields themselves out of translucent plastic, foam and strings to make up for the short supply of the vital protective gear. "I thought of making improvised face shields because I was too worried about my two children, who are both health workers themselves," Laurita said.
