The Department of Agrarian Reform has resolved 100 percent of its backlog of pending cases, “a historic first for the agency,” according to Secretary John Castriciones.
At a media briefing in Quezon City, Castriciones said “we resolved the pending cases as expeditiously as possible while ensuring that decisions are fully supported by the evidence on record, the law and the applicable jurisprudence.”
The zero backlog program was launched in January 2019 in compliance with President Rodrigo Duterte’s instruction to resolve all cases and deliver legal assistance in a fair and speedy manner, he said.
It was aimed to achieve a 100 percent accomplishment rate in the resolution of the beginning balance of cases in 2019 or the resolution of all cases from 2018 and the preceding years.
