Ambush kills 3 near DOST office

Two Chinese nationals and their Filipino companion were killed while two children were hurt in an apparent ambush in front of Department of Science and Technology office in Barangay Upper Bicutan, Taguig City Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Initial reports from the Southern Police District said that the fatalities—Nin Jie Zhang, 42, of Bagong Silang, Caloocan City, and one Kau Yu, both Chinese nationals, and a Filipino companion identified only as Noel, a resident of Cavite—died on the spot due to multiple gunshot wounds in their bodies.

The wounded minors identified as Crystal Zhang, five-years old, and Hazel Zhang, 12, both residents of Bagong Silang, Caloocan City, were rushed to the Taguig Pateros District Hospital, also because of gunshot wounds.

SPD reports showed that four unidentified persons were responsible in the incident which happened in front of DOST office located along General Santos Avenue around 2:30 p.m.

It added that the victims were traveling along General Santos Avenue on board a black Toyota Vios with registration plate ABP 8026 when the incident happened.

Scene of the Crime Operatives were conducting investigation at the crime scene at press time. They said the right side of the car was riddled with bullets.

The incident also resulted into heavy traffic in the area.
