Sen. Robin Padilla promised to bring justice to the family of a minor who was brutally raped and murdered in Jose Panganiban town in Camarines Norte province.
Padilla went to Jose Panganiban last weekend where he met the family and mother of the young girl, who begged him for help.
Padilla lamented the current law may not be enough to protect Filipino women.
Because of this, he committed to strengthening existing laws to make sure such a heinous crime does not happen again.
Padilla visited the victim’s family in Barangay Parang to personally offer his sympathies. With him were Camarines Norte Governor Dong Padilla, Vice Mayor Kuatro Padilla, and Philippine National Police Bicol regional director P/Brig. Gen. Westrimundo Obinque.
Gov. Padilla said the senator was shocked that such a heinous crime could happen involving minors.
The governor added he discussed with local authorities the drug situation in the area after receiving information that the alleged perpetrators of the rape-murder were high on drugs at the time.
The senator and his party also went to the victim’s burial place to offer prayers.
