The filing of certificates of candidacy (COCs) for the forthcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE) will be from August 28 to September 2, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced on Monday.
In an updated calendar of activities for the BSKE set on October 30, 2023, the Comelec said the official campaign period will be on Oct. 19 to 28, while the gun ban will be from August 28 to November 29.
Starting September 3 until October 18, campaigning is prohibited, the poll body said.
then again on October 29-30, along with the ban on selling, buying, or taking intoxicating drinks.
On Election Day on October 30, casting of votes will be from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Counting and canvassing of the votes and eventual proclamation of the winners will immediately follow the closing of the polls.
The last day to file Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE) is set on November 29.
The BSKE has been repeatedly postponed since 2016. In October 2022, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. enacted the law moving the December 2022 BSKE to the last Monday of October 2023.
