The Taguig City government opened on Thursday its “Christmas by the Lake,” a family-friendly outdoor attraction that showcases the city’s holiday spirit.

The new six-hectare facility is the biggest lights park in the country that features around a million Christmas lights using an energy-efficient technology to symbolize local resident’s “faith and resilience to rise from the darkness brought about by the pandemic.”

CHRISTMAS BY THE LAKE. Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano and Senator Alan Peter Cayetano light up the Christmas by the Lake theme park featuring, among others, a train ride, interactive murals, and food stalls at the Lakeshore Area on Laguna Lake Highway in Barangay Lower Bicutan. The park sparkles with more than a million light bulbs using energy-efficient technology, with laser beam animation and a larger-than-life walkthrough kaleidoscope to boot.

“This newest attraction from the city is something we should all be proud of because it reflects not only our identity as a probinsyudad, but also our values as a community,” said Mayor Laarni Cayetano.

She added that more than the decoration and the lights of the park, “is the real meaning of Christmas: Christ, who became a man to save the world. He is the true light in our lives.”

Apart from Christmas tree lights, residents can enjoy lit-up Christmas-themed installations, including Little Drummer Boy and Nativity scenes.

The facility also features other family-friendly rides, activities and shows. A village train and walking tour will take visitors through the three zones of Christmas by the Lake, namely, the Lights of the City, the Heart of Christmas and the Spirit of Christmas.

At the Christmas by the Lake, visitors can express the things they are most thankful for during the year and their New Year’s wishes in ribbons, which they can tie around a gratitude tree with the help of marshals.

Residents can also enjoy other attractions such as the Aqua Luna Lights and Sounds Show featuring laser and beam animations synchronized to beautiful sound effects and an aerial light show called Sinagtala.

A larger-than-life walkthrough kaleidoscope to have that Instagram-worthy pictures will also be available at the Interactive Art Murals while couples can have a romantic walk along this pathway filled with lights while you soak in the gorgeous park views at the Walkway of Lights.

Foodies can also try a variety of meals in the native huts elevated from the water by wooden stilts, or in Mercado del Lago stalls which offer a wide array of dishes guaranteed to satisfy the palate.
