The Supreme Court (SC) issued an order saying that there will be no work on November 9 and 16 in the SS, appellate and collegiate courts, and trial courts in the National Capital Region and in 13 other areas selected as local testing centers (LTCs) for the 2022 online and regionalized bar examinations.
Aside from November 9 and 16, both Wednesdays, the two other days of the bar examinations will be on Nov. 13 and 20, both Sundays.
The appellate and collegiate courts are the Court of Appeals (CA). Sandiganbayan and the Court of Tax Appeals (CTA). Sandiganbayan and CTA are both in NCR.
Aside from its main office in Manila, the appellate court has stations in Cebu City for the Visayas and in Cagayan de Oro City for Mindanao.
In a resolution that granted the requests of Associate Justice Alfredo Benjamin S. Caguioa, chairperson of the bar examinations committee, the SC approved the suspension of its division and full court sessions from Nov. 5 to 22.
The SC stressed that the suspension of the sessions will “enable the SC to direct its main resources, time, and work towards the holding of the 2022 Bar examinations.”
“All officials, staff, and employees of all courts who will be deployed and will render service during the preparations, actual conduct of the Bar examinations and post Bar examinations activities be considered on official time for the duration of said deployment and service, to enable them to focus on their Bar examinations-related work, unencumbered by other court-related tasks,” the SC said.
The LTCs for the Bar examinations in the NCR will be in Northern Manila, Southern Manila, Pasay City, Quezon City, and Taguig City.
In Luzon, the LTCs are in Baguio City in Benguet, Lipa City in Batangas, and Naga City in Camarines Sur.
Northern Cebu City, Southern Cebu City and Tacloban City in Leyte are the LTCs in the Visayas, while Cagayan de Oro City, Davao City and Zamboanga City are those for Mindanao.
The SC is expected to announce later the actual venues, like universities or colleges, of the Bar examinations in the 14 LTCs.
