The Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) celebrated its 49th anniversary this September 18 with a series of ceremonies and activities with the theme, “Tulong-tulong sa Pagsulong.  Pantay-pantay sa Pag-agapay.”

According to LWUA Officer-In-Charge Eileen Dela Vega, this year’s theme focuses on LWUA and all water districts working together as the country transitions from the severe pandemic-related health restrictions to a new phase of recovery.

“We’ve weathered the worst and we’re able to move forward with our initiatives and activities using alternative modes of communication. We now live in a new normal where we draw on the lessons learned from the past to find our path and finish the duties that lie ahead,” Dela Vega said.

To mark the event, LWUA has lined up a three-day program from September 21 to 23 that includes sports activities, an outreach project, and a simple program to present service awards to employees with decades of tenure at the agency.

LWUA, the agency tasked to promote and oversee water supply development outside Metro Manila, has so far helped establish 532 operational water districts spread across Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
