PDEA hands out P9.6m in cold cash to 11 informants

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on Tuesday rewarded 11 civilian informants more than P9.6 million in cash for vital information leading to the seizure of considerable amounts of drugs and the arrests of “high-value targets” involved in the nefarious trade.

PDEA Director general Wilkins Villanueva commended the informants who were identified only through their codenames for their help in carrying out PDEA’s “Operation Private Eye.”

Operation Private Eye is a citizen-based information collection program designed to encourage the active participation of private citizens to report illegal drug activities in their communities.

One of the bounty recipients tagged as “DREAM” pocketed P2,000,000 for providing information to PDEA IIS that led to the seizure of 502,170.00 grams of shabu and the death of three drug personalities during a buy-bust operation at Noah’s Place, Barangay Libertador, Candelaria, Zambales on Sept. 7, 2021.

“DATU” was awarded P124,339.94 for providing information to PDEA BARMM which resulted in the seizure of 2,026.50 grams of shabu and the arrest of three drug personalities during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Km2, Indanan, Sulu on Dec. 4, 2021.

“JOJO” got P56,203.57 for providing information to PDEA SES which resulted in the seizure of 506.08 grams of shabu and arrest of a drug personality during a buy-bust operation at May Inn Hotel, Kalayaan Avenue, Barangay Guadalupe Nuevo, Makati City on Jan. 30, 2022.

“MASHU” went home with P500,000 for providing information to PDEA CAR, leading to the seizure of 109,495.35 grams of dried marijuana leaves, stalks and fruiting tops and arrest of two drug suspects during an interdiction operation at Checkpoint, Dangoy, Lubuagan, Kalinga on Feb. 25, 2022. 

“MARVIN” received P421,220.19 for the information to PDEA RO-VI that caused the seizure of 4,976.90 grams of shabu and arrest of a drug suspect during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Old Poblacion, Escalante City, Negros Occidental on March 4, 2022. 

“MAMBO” will deposit P241,463.13 in his bank account for the seizure of 2,993.50 grams of shabu and arrest of two drug personalities during a buy-bust operation at Unit 705 Nice Hotel, Saint Mary Street, Barangay E. Rodriguez, Quezon City on March 9, 2022. 

“ALI” took P75,274.44 for the raid on a marijuana den and the arrest of a drug personality during an interdiction operation infront of Kalley Xerox Center, Sadanga-Bontoc Terminal, Sepulchre Street, Poblacion, Bontoc, Mountain Province on April 17, 2022. 

For his part, “TIN” took home P36,363.60  for providing information to that led to the seizure of 6,060.60 grams of dried marijuana leaves, stalks and fruiting tops and arrest of a drug personality during an interdiction operation Sitio Sepulchre Street, Poblacion, Bontoc, Mountain Province May 2, 2022.
