PAO chief Acosta not aiming for elective post

While Public Attorney’s Office chief Persida Rueda-Acosta is retiring in 2025 at age 65, she said she is not aspiring to join politics.

Acosta said Sunday she has never dreamed of becoming a politician, citing “all I just want is to serve (the people and the country) in whatever position I am into.”

“I will always be there whenever my help is needed, just what we did in the cases of ‘tanim bala’ and the Dengvaxia cases,” she added.

When pressed if she would ever plan to run for office, Acosta replied: “It is not yet the right time. Maybe in God’s time.”

“But if you (people) would insist, I may be forced (to do so). I am leaving it all to the will of God. If there are signs, I will serve the people,” she said.
