Catholic group, BARMM sign pact on women’s participation

The Catholic Relief Services and the Office of MP Diamila Disimban-Ramos of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) signed a memorandum of agreement to advance the inclusion and participation of women in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

The partnership aims establish consultative and dialogue mechanisms and platforms; conduct developmental initiatives and capacity building activities; strengthen women organizations and enterprises; improve access to finance and development programs and services; improve coordination with the government and other development stakeholders; improve gender and development programming; and integrate women agenda in regional and local development plans, policies, and laws.

“Our partnership is very important.  Through this, we can further strengthen our move towards a more peaceful and progressive Bangsamoro,” Ramos said.

Ramos also said through the partnership, “we are more likely to achieve our collective goals and mainstream and institutionalize the positive experiences and the changes or results achieved by pilot and local interventions for women.”

The Bangsamoro Government also recognized and awarded the contribution of six distinguished Bangsamoro women in various categories during the Awarding Ceremony of the Search for Bangsamoro Women Advocates 2022 on March 28.

The awardees include; Anna Zenaida Alonto, Bangsamoro Woman Advocate on Education 2022; Hadja Nabiha Noni Lao, Bangsamoro Woman Advocate on Gender and Development 2022; Dalomabi Bula, Bangsamoro Woman Advocate on IDP 2022; Shahera B. Lucman, Bangsamoro Woman Advocate on Children 2022; Nairah Tambie, Bangsamoro Woman Advocate on Youth 2022; and Shri Tahanie Macaumbao, Bangsamoro Woman Advocate on Environment 2022
