Presidential candidate Vice President Leni Robredo will resume her campaign sorties on Monday with back-to-back events in Quezon province and Marinduque.

In Quezon, Robredo will be feted by her supporters and would reconnect with beneficiaries of her poverty alleviation programs.

In Infanta, Robredo’s supporters organized the REINAgkakaisa people’s rally which will feature performances by Rivermaya and other artists. Joining them are representatives of the Dumagat tribe and coconut and palay farmers from the towns of Real, Infanta, and General Nakar, also known as REINA.

The early morning rally will start at 7am at the Infanta Government Service Complex.

Robredo’s next stop will be in Pollilo Island where she will hold a multisectoral assembly where they would hear a message from Teresa Puchero, a beneficiary of the medical assistance program of the Office of the Vice President (OVP).

In Marinduque, the youth and senior citizens would be teaming up for Robredo.

Ninay Festin, provincial coordinator for Marinduqueños for Leni, said support for Robredo’s presidential bid from the senior citizens in the province is so strong that they came up with a unique strategy for campaigning: having a buddy system.

Marinduque’s older population has a very positive view of Robredo and has been giving their all-out support for her since the official campaign began last February

“Pag tinanong ko, ‘Bakit po si Leni?’ ang sasabihin ‘Eh kasi maayos ang pinag-aralan, maayos ang pagkatao,’ very clear. Very positive ang kanilang tingin kay VP Leni. [‘Y]ung mga matatanda dito, very clear sa kanila na makita lang nila ‘yung accomplishments, may resibo,” said Festin.

Marinduque will hold the Parina na! Marinduque People’s Rally on Monday afternoon, April 18, at the Boac Sports Arena.

Volunteers, especially the senior citizens, have something special planned to welcome the candidate.

“Di ba sa lahat ng mga introduction sa kanya, mga bata? This time, matanda yung magpe-perform for her,” said Festin.

In 2016, Robredo won in the province of Marinduque in her bid for the vice presidency.

Festin and all her fellow Marinduque volunteers remain positive for the coming elections, especially now that Robredo’s popularity has grown and her “resibo” – or proof of her projects and honest leadership and governance – are becoming well-known.
