At least 45,000  police officers and men have been infected with  COVID-19, with 125 of them losing their lives since the onslaught of the pandemic.

This was revealed by the Philippine National Police (PNP) Retirees Association party-list, citing data from the PNP Health Service.

The   co-founders of PRAI party-list — Gen. Reynaldo Velasco, Gen. Leo Napenas, and Gen. Van Luspo —  lauded some 250,000 police officers and men in active service for doing their share in enforcing health protocols  to help contain the spread of the virus despite being exposed to COVID-19 in various areas of their places of their assignments in the Philippines.

The policemen have not been spared by the dreaded disease as 125 officers and men have succumbed to the virus, the PRAI co-founders said.

As of last week, the PNP Health Service reported that a total of 45,028 policemen have been infected with COVID-19, reports reaching Gen. Velasco stated.
