The Manila Regional Trial Court (RTC) has ordered the transfer of self-confessed Customs fixer Mark Taguba to the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center in Camp Crame, Quezon City.

The order was handed down by Manila RTC Judge Rainelda Estacio-Montesa.

Taguba's lawyer Raymund Fortun says, this decision indicates the judge agrees with his client's statement that there is danger to his life.

Taguba's arraignment and that of his co-accused Eirene Tatad have been reset to April 6.

This is because the court has yet to resolve the motion to quash the cases filed by the two respondents.

Montesa gave the prosecution 10 days to comment on the motion.

Last February 2, the court junked Taguba's request to remain at the detention cell of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

The judge said it was not the duty of the NBI to take custody of suspects.

However, the judge told Taguba that she would reconsider her ruling if the Customs fixer could prove his life was under threat.

Taguba is facing charges for alleged importation, transportation and delivery of illegal drugs in May 2017.

The container vans he facilitated allegedly contained P 6.4-billion worth of shabu from China.

This shipment slipped through the Bureau of Custom's express lane.

Taguba denied involvement in the importation of illegal drugs.
