Pinoy dies in California wildfire–DFA

A Filipino national died in the wildfire that engulfed North California’s wine country, the Department of Foreign Affairs reported on Tuesday.

The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco said that the Filipino’s remains, which have yet to be positively identified, were recovered last Saturday, Oct. 14 in Napa Country.

Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano in his statement expressed his condolences to the family of the Filipino national.

“We offer our sincere sympathies and prayers to the family of our kababayan who perished in this horrific fire,” Cayetano said.

The Consulate in San Francisco assured that it will offer all possible assistance to the family and to continue to closely monitoring the welfare of other Filipinos in the affected areas.
