Gun ban takes effect on Sept. 23

The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) is reminding the public that the election gun ban will begin on September 23 or on Saturday next week.

The ban is in connection with the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) polls which will be held nationwide on October 23, 2017.

Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez issued the reminder in a press briefing on Friday.

Comelec Resolution Number 10197 prohibits any person from bearing, carrying or transporting any firearms or deadly weapons ouside his or her residence.

The ban will be in effect until October 30, the last day of election period.

Meanwhile, filing of certificates of candidacies (COCs) for candidates is from September 23 to 30.
