Members of the Committee on Justice in the House of Representatives have declared one of the two impeachment complaints against Supreme Court Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno to be sufficient in form.

During a hearing on Wednesday morning, lawmakers heard arguments and cast their votes.

30 members voted in favor of finding the impeachment bid of lawyer Larry Gadon sufficient in form while 4 opposed.

Voting was held based on a motion made by COOP NATCCO Party-list Representative Anthony Bravo.

The proceeding in the Batasang Pambansa Complex continues.

Lawmakers are now determining if the case of Gadon against the chief magistrate is sufficient in substance.

Oriental Mindoro Representative and committee chairman Reynaldo Umali is presiding over the hearing.

Also up for discussion is the second impeachment complaint against Sereno submitted by the groups Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) and Vanguard.
