The National Police Commission has started accepting applicants for the Police Executive Service Eligibility (PESE) Written Examination for Police Commissioned Officers of the Philippine National Police which will be held on Aug. 13.

The filing of application starts June 9 to July 24 and the examination will be conducted in Metro Manila, Cebu City and Davao City. The examination is open to qualified uniformed members of the PNP with the ranks of Police Chief Inspector and above with permanent status of appointment.

Napolcom vice chairman and executive officer Rogelio Casurao said the PESE is an eligibility requirement for promotion to the third level ranks of Police Senior Superintendent, Police Chief Superintendent, Police Director, Police Deputy Director General and Police Director General.

The Written Examination focuses on six categories namely—job knowledge, leadership competency, communication skills, analytical/logical reasoning, values and emotional quotient.

“The PESE eligibility process has two phases—Written Examination and Validation Interview, and contains analytical questions on police leadership and police values in order to get the best future leaders or the cream of the crop in the police service,” Casurao said.

Former Special Action Force trooper Police Supt. Wildemar Tan Tiu, a BS Civil Engineering graduate and member of the Philippine National Police Academy Sambigkis Class of 2003, topped the list of passers in last year’s PESE for the third level ranks.

Tiu, Deputy Chief of the Permit to Carry Firearm Outside of Residence Unit under the Office of the Chief, PNP placed first among the 259 senior police officials who passed the validation interview phase of the PES Eligibility process.

Casurao said the 259 passers represent 90.56 percent of the 286 police officials who underwent the validation interview, which is the second and final phase of the PES eligibility process.
