Aguirre asks why lawmakers met with Marawi clans prior to siege

Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre is curious to know if some lawmakers have anything to do with the Marawi siege or if they are involved in a destabilization plot.

He claims that Senators Antonio Trillanes and Bam Aquino, as well as Magdalo Party-list Representative Gary Alejano, met with the Lucman and Alonto clans in Marawi City before the fighting between the military and the Maute group broke out.

The justice secretary says, government must find out what transpired during the meeting.

It supposedly took place on May 2, 2017 or three weeks before violence erupted in Marawi.

Clashes in the city began on May 23.

Former President Noynoy Aquino’s political adviser adviser Ronald Llamas was said to be also present in the meeting.

Aquirre says, he has a photo of the event.

In a statement, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) states, Senator Bam Aquino’s purpose for visiting Marawi City was to attend the launching of its first Negosyo Center in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, which is located in Marawi.
