Signalling system causes problem in MRT’s operations anew

Even on a relatively slow day like today, when government work is suspended in Metro Manila, the Metro Rail Transit-3 (MRT-3) still failed to give continuous, uninterrupted service to the rest of the commuting public.

As early as 4:30 am on Friday, the MRT-3 went on another ‘provisional service.’

The trains only carried passengers from Shaw Boulevard Station to Taft Avenue Station and vice versa.

The signalling system is being cited as the cause of the MRT’s failure to fully operate.

MRT-3 Director for Operations Deo Manalo explains the trouble: “Hindi po natin mabigyan ng instruction yung mga tren kung paano sila bibyahe (we could not give instruction on how the trains would roll).”

The operations went back to ‘normal’ at 8:46 am or after more than four hours.
