Indonesian President Joko Widodo and President Rodrigo Duterte may tackle the case of Mary Jane Veloso tomorrow.
This is according to Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella.
Widodo will arrive at 2 pm Friday for a two-day state visit to the Philippines.
Veloso is a convicted drug mule who is languishing in Indonesia’s death row.
Her mother, Celia Veloso, went to Malacañang yesterday to appeal for a commutation of sentence for Mary Jane.
In an interview, Widodo said, Veloso’s plight might be mentioned in his bilateral talks with Duterte.
But he stresses that the fate of Veloso depends on the decision of the court and laws governing his country.
Mary Jane was arrested in 2010 for carrying 2.6 kilograms of heroin to Indonesia.
