SHOWBIZ columnist and radio anchor Jobert Sucaldito is facing 84 counts of libel and other criminal charges before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.

Erickson Raymundo, Cornerstone Entertainment president, filed 43 counts of cyber libel, and 12 counts of grave threats, slander and libel raps.

The charges stemmed after Sucaldito posted on social media that Raymundo was involved in doubtful schemes to rob other artists of gigs and projects.

Singer Eric Santos, through Joji Alonso, also filed  22 counts of cyber libel, one count of slander and six counts of grave threats against Sucaldito.

He wanted Sucaldito to indemnify him P2 million in exemplary damages.

Singers Jaya, Yeng Constantino,Sam Milby, K Brosas, Thor, Benj Manalo and Nicco Manalo—all Cornerstone artists —and film director Joyce Bernal were there to extend their full support to Raymundo and Santos.

“It is not right to say something about someone. It is not right to besmirch one’s reputation of those who, in fact, have done you good,” singer-composer Yeng Constantino said.

Based on his sworn affidavit, Santos said Sucaldito, over a live broadcast of his radio show “Mismo” on dzMM last March 9, gave a blind item about a “certain talent management group who is allegedly handling gay singers.”

“When his co-host, Ahwel Paz, mentioned that he does not know any gay singers from said talent management, Respondent replied as follows, ‘meron no! Di ba nga, magcoconcert nga?’” Santos’ sworn statement read.

“Respondent was clearly referring to me since I am about to have my concert on 07 April 2017, which was being promoted by Ahwel Paz during the same show, immediately before the blind item was narrated.”

He presented screengrabs of Sucaldito’s supposed “derogatory” FB posts on March 16 to 19, and March 21.

On March 10, Sucaldito earned Santos’ wrath when he posted on his FB account on March 10 about an unidentified” gay male singer who tried to hide his gender identity and pretended to be courting a female singer.

In 2011, comedian John Lapus sued Sucaldito for libel for saying the former ran amuck inside a bar and forced several men to fool around with him.

Sucaldito then recanted his statement.
