2,017 Munti students join Centennial Walk

A sea of colors covered Muntinlupa’s National Road on Saturday as exactly 2,017 students from 27 public schools in the city marched in the “Centennial Walk,” one of the kickoff activities of the city’s Centennial Celebration this year.

Through the Muntinlupa Centennial Commission and Schools Division Office, the students participated in the parade from Agro Homes, Putatan to Muntinlupa City Hall Quadrangle for the Salute of Colors and marching drills before making their way to the Muntinlupa Sports Complex in Tunasan.

Exactly 2017 students participate in the ‘Centennial Walk’ and salute of colors as part of the yearlong celebration of Muntinlupa’s Centennial Anniversary on Saturday at the Muntinlupa Sports Complex in Tunasan. Mayor Jaime Fresnedi graced the activity and thanked the Muntinlupa Centennial Commission and Schools Division Office for allowing the youth to participate in the celebration. Muntinlupa will commemorate its 100th Founding Anniversary on Dec. 19.

Mayor Jaime Fresnedi, Rep. Ruffy Biazon, and Department of Education executives led the program where the students, together with school principals, teachers, and parents, performed a series of dance numbers.

Fresnedi thanked the participants’ parents for allowing them to join the activity. He said that it is good to expose the next generation to local activities at a very young age, as it instills nationalistic pride in them.

The mayor also invited everyone to join the yearlong celebration of Muntinlupa’s Centennial, which will conclude on December 19.

Other activities lined up for the celebration include a Centennial Roadshow Caravan, Centennial Women’s Congress, Sale Extravaganza, Centennial Bancathon, Centennial Travel Expo, Lakbay Bulilit, Serenata sa Plaza, and LGBT Parangal, among others.

An unveiling of heritage houses in Muntinlupa and the restoration of historical sites will also be conducted during the celebration.
