QC: No holiday for trash work

Anticipating the huge volume of trash generated during the Yuletide season, the Quezon City government announced that the Environmental Protection and Waste Management Department will conduct its regular garbage collection on December 25 and January 1.

Household and domestic wastes collected along the main roads will be prioritized during the operation, said EPWMD head Frederika Rentoy.

The garbage collection will also cover the waste generated by QC-based institutions, Rentoy added.

Regular garbage collection will still proceed on December 26 and January 2, which are both declared non-working holidays.

EPWMD will be maintaining a skeletal force to accommodate inquiries and requests during the holiday season. Rentoy pointed out that her department strictly prohibits its garbage collection crew from soliciting money from residents.
