Trigger-happy cops to be dismissed

Deputy Director General Leonardo Espina, officer in charge of the Philippine National Police (PNP), said officers who violated his no-gun fire directive during the holidays will be removed from the service.

“We will immediately proceed against them [violators] both administratively and criminally that would lead to their dismissal from the service, he said.

Reports reaching Camp Crame operations center said violators included  four officers in Metro Manila, one each in Region 11 and Region 3.

Espina said PO2 Argel Baliccud of the Manila Police District was allegedly drunk when he repeatedly fired his gun.

He (Baliccud) will face administrative and criminal charges and his district director already informed me the charges have been filed,” he said.

Also listed were PO1 Jhoy Velasco,  PO1 Bouchard Ramos, PO1 Christian Agbuya, PO2 Argel Balicud, and PO3 Jorge Manayan Reyes III who have been relieved and disarmed.,

Police records show that Ramos, of MPD fired his 9mm service pistol on December 16 on Penalosa St., Barangay 60, Zone 4, Tondo.

Meanwehile, PO2 Romel Mitra assigned to QCPD-Station 6 in Batasan Hills  was arrested  his fellow policemen in Novaliches after a resident reported the illegal discharge  of fireram.

Reyes allegedly fired his gun on Dec. 25 in Barangay Sto. Nino, San Mateo, Rizal, while Velasco fired his weapon at the Laak Municipal Police Station in Compostela Valley.
