Senator Leila De Lima is preparing for her possible arrest.

She says, “hindi po ako magtatago. Hindi po ako pupunta ng ospital. Hindi po ako magwi-wheelchair o magbi-brace (I won’t hide. I won’t go to a hospital. I won’t use a wheelchair or wear a brace).”

De Lima also says, through a meeting, she had psychologically prepared her family for a scenario in which she could be arrested.

She excluded from the meeting her 83-year-old mother and special son, Israel.

The lawmaker had also met her staff on the matter.

She recalls, one of them had asked if they could cry and the senator replied that tears may be shed, but not in front of her.

De Lima notes, all she is asking is for authorities to put her in a safe and secure detention cell.

The senator is facing five criminal complaints, including an alleged violation of the Dangerous Drugs Act.

The cases relate to the proliferation of illegal drug trade in New Bilibid Prison when she was Justice Secretary.

The prosecution panel of the Department of Justice (DOJ) had wrapped up its investigation into the charges last January 6, 2017.

The DOJ is set to come out with a resolution on the cases and will seek an arrest warrant from the court soon.
