The Sandiganbayan Fifth Division has allowed detained Former Senator Jinggoy Estrada to undergo magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and X-ray at Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan City.

Estrada is set to leave his detention cell in Camp Crame for these medical procedures on Tuesday.

He complains of pain in the knee that worsens when he stands up and he had asked the anti-graft court to allow him to go through medical check-up as soon as possible.

Last December 30, 2016, Dr. Jose Syquia examined Estrada and found that he has patellofemoral pain syndrome.

Estrada has a pending case of plunder at the Sandiganbayan for having allegedly pocketed P 183-million in kickbacks in exchange for diverting his pork barrel to businesswoman Janet Lim Napoles’ bogus foundations.
