The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has been made to explain why it was not using the funds allocated for its projects in the previous years.
The questions were asked during the budget hearing at the House of Representatives held on Friday morning.
COOP-NATCCO Partylist Representative Anthony Bravo recalled, DTI’s unused appropriations in 2014 reached P 1.6-billion.
Trade Assistant Secretary Ireneo Vizmonte explained that difficulties in the procurement process prevented the DTI from carrying out some projects.
DTI is seeking the approval of its P 4.9-billion proposed budget for 2017 from Congress.
