Southwest monsoon expected to intensify this weekend

PAGASA expects the southwest monsoon to intensify this coming weekend.

The weather bureau says, this is due to two weather disturbances outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) that are enhancing the monsoon rains.

One of the weather conditions is a Low Pressure Area (LPA) located 1,700 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora.

The LPA outside PAR may develop into a storm and this may strengthen the effects of southwest monsoon.

A tropical depression outside PAR and located 3,400 kilometers east northeast of Itbayat, Batanes is also bringing more rains to the country.

The monsoon currently affects Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro and the northern portion of Palawan.

These areas will experience moderate to heavy rains.

PAGASA also predicts moderate to heavy rains for Metro Manila.
