Six persons were killed in an encounter between police and drug suspects in Albuera, Leyte.
This was reported by PNP Spokesperson Dionardo Carlos in a press conference in Camp Crame.
Carlos identified those who died as persons belonging to the “Espinosa group” of Albuera Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr.
The clash took place following a police anti-drug operation at 4:30 am Wednesday in Sitio Tinago, Barangay Binulho where the Mayor’s compound is located.
During the press briefing, Carlos received word that Espinosa is arriving at any moment at the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) to subject himself to investigation.
Espinosa previously surrendered to PNP Chief Ronald dela Rosa.
Espinosa reportedly admitted to Dela Rosa that his son Kerwin had drug links.
