House Quad Comm cites Harry Roque in contempt

The House Quad Committee cited former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque in contempt on Thursday for refusing to submit documents required by the panel in connection with its ongoing investigation of the extrajudicial killings that happened during the Duterte administration.

“I move, Mr. Chair, that we hold Harry Roque in contempt for refusing to submit the documents subject of the subpoena duces tecum and of which he manifested that he was going to submit to this committee,” said Bukidnon Rep. Jonathan Keith Flores at the resumption of their joint public hearing.

Hearing no objections, Quad Comm chairperson and Surigao del Norte Rep. Robert Ace Barbers granted the motion. Flores also moved to hold Roque in detention until he complies with the requirements of the House panel.

Manila Rep. Bienvenido Abante also “erroneously” moved that Roque be detained in the Women’s Correctional, which he abruptly corrected as a slip. He described the prominent Duterte ally as having a “two-faced attitude.”

Roque did not attend the scheduled public hearing.

Quad Comm is composed of the House Committees on Dangerous Drugs, Public Order and Safety, Human Rights, and Public Accounts.
