Former Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog has been granted temporary freedom after posting bail following an order from the third division of Sandiganbayan.
Lawyers Dennis Pulma and Mary Jean Valderama, the executive clerks of court, signed the release papers dated September 10, 2024. Sandiganbayan Associate Justice Bernelito Fernandez was indicated as witness.
Mabilog surrendered himself to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) after a seven-year self-imposed exile to the United States during the height of former President Rodrigo Duterte’s war on drugs.
The former mayor accused of involvement in the illicit drug trade, which made him flee for safety together with his family.
In a recent interview with ABS-CBN, Mabilog said he has forgiven the Duterte patriarch and wants peace.
