The public was invited to the Philippines’ biggest and most star-studded bakery industry event, the “Bakery Fair 2023” from March 2 to 4 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City. the event was organized Filipino Chinese Bakery Association, Inc. (FCBAI) led by President Gerik Chua and other officers.
Vice-President Sara Duterte Carpio, Senator Imee Marcos, Senators Loren Legarda, Mark Villar, Mark Villar, Koko Pimentel, former Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, and other leaders congratulated FCBAI for organizing Bakery Fair 2023, which supports the revival of the Philippine bakery industry and the Philippine economy. Bakery Fair 2023 had 136 exhibitors covering 10,000 square meters or one hectare of the World Trade Center. Educational technical seminars by different top bakery industry-related companies, bakers, chefs, and experts were also held during the three-day event, which served as the comeback of the Bakery Fair after four years due to the pandemic. It signaled the revival of the Philippine baking industry despite inflation and other challenges.
The biennial civic project of the FCBAI aims to promote and uplift the Philippines bakery industry and support socio-economic development.
One of the exciting events of the Bakery Fair 2023 was the “FCBAI Bakers Cup Wedding Cake Competition 2023”, which showcased exciting and awesome wedding cake creations with “Kasalang Pinoy” theme. Attendees were mesmerized by the bakers’ amazing creations using fondant, royal icing, gum paste, and many more.
Another important aspect of the Bakery Fair was the “Angel Cup 2023,” which highlighted the making of Bread Showpiece, Artisan Bread, Healthy Bread, and Sweet Dough with dough filling.
FCBAI is part of the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce & Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII), the umbrella business and civic organization of 170 Filipino Chinese chambers of commerce and trade organizations from Aparri to Tawi Tawi. History records showed that Chinese migrants were the earliest bakers in the Philippines during the Spanish colonial era, bringing also flour here.
