The National Housing Authority (NHA) on Friday released P4.935 million under the Emergency Housing Assistance Program (EHAP) to victims of flash floods in Gingoog, Misamis Oriental.

NHA general manager Joeben Tai spearheaded the distribution of P4.935 million in financial assistance to the families to 987 families, whose houses were damaged and destroyed by the shear line weather disruption in December.

Each family received a P5,000 cash assistance, he said.

He ordered the release of the EHAP funds following the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to all government agencies to immediately assist all affected families.

“The NHA, under my leadership and the Build Better and More Housing program, is relentlessly fulfilling its mandate to help improve and develop the standard of living of poor families, and those living in danger areas,” Tai said.

“We continue to do this to fulfill one of the wishes of our President to have a progressive and peaceful life for our fellow Filipinos by building resettlement sites and supporting those affected by calamities and disasters,” he added.

He said he hoped the small amount could help the victims start over.

NHA was able to release P2.39 billion in EHAP funds in 2022 alone, benefiting 250,997 calamity-victim families in rebuilding their houses.
