Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte has spearheaded the inauguration of four modern and first-class facilities at the Amoranto Sports Complex to accommodate local and international sporting events.

“I promised a modernized Amoranto Sports Complex. We are proud that this is not just a sports facility,” Belmonte said.

“Now, we want our city to level up not only known for our advocacies we are fighting for, but to be known also as having the first-class facilities,” the mayor added.

Belmonte was joined by other city officials government and representatives from the Department of Public Works and Highways.

She said the Amoranto Sports Arena can accommodate 3,500 people.

The new facilities also included an Olympic-size swimming pool with 10 lanes that can be used also for local and international swimming meets.

Belmonte also inaugurated a multi-level parking building that can accommodate big vehicles, including buses, of participants and guests.

The open tennis court was also a part of the planned indoor sports facility for basketball, volleyball, badminton, billiards, table tennis and darts.

The city mayor said the modern facilities will help the local athletes reap more accolades for the city.

“Quezon City will not only be known for being the City of Stars but also as the Sports Capital of our country. That is our goal — to promote, provide and create outstanding athletes here in the city but we cannot create champions without first-class facilities,” she stressed.

The facilities can also be used by the general public, barangays and employees of the city government for their sporting events.
