In his first flag-raising ceremony as Commission on Audit (COA) Chairperson, Atty. Gamaliel A. Cordoba emphasized the role of auditors as partners of the government in the economic and efficient use of public resources.

Cordoba mentioned how COA’s role now has become crucial, saying that “resources must be spent by the government economically, efficiently and expeditiously” as the country recovers from the pandemic.

“The Commission should facilitate this by enabling agencies to do their jobs better. We will be partners in rebuilding our country. We will be enablers,” he added.

Chairperson Cordoba also enjoined COAns to “work as a single formidable unit, encouraging ourselves to bring out the best in each of us. We shall constantly strive to earn the public’s trust as the Commission fulfills its mandates, upholding an honest, professional, and dignified approach to all our daily tasks.”

The new COA Chairperson said that personnel welfare will also be the cornerstone of his administration, promising to lighten the load of overworked auditors by filling up vacant positions and training auditors to strengthen audit capability compliant with international standards.
