The RP Mission and Development Foundation Inc. (RPMD) has completed its nationwide survey from July 1-15, 2022, for all Mayors, Governors, and members of the House of Representatives for their overall job performance for the year 2021.
The classification results for the “Top Performing District Representatives” saw Rep. Pablo John Garcia of Cebu (3rd district) with a 92-percent job performance rating as the Top District Representative in the country last year, followed by Rep. Kristine Singson-Meehan of Ilocos Sur (2nd district) with 91 percent.
In third place was former congressman and current Navotas City Mayor John Rey Tiangco with 89 percent, while Rep. Gerardo “Gerry” Espina Jr. of Biliran was fourth with an 88% rating. The 5th position was held by former Representative and current Mayor Dale “Along” Malapitan of Caloocan City with 87 percent.
House Speaker Martin Romualdez of Leyte (1st district) was sixth with 86 percentage points, followed by Rep. Rufus Rodriguez of Cagayan de Oro City (2nd district) with 85% voters’ support.
Former Rep. Vilma Santos-Recto of Batangas (6th district) obtained 84 percent, ranked 8th. Rep. Edcel Lagman of Albay (1st district) gathered 82 percent in 9th place.
Former Representative and current Mayor Ruffy Biazon of Muntinlupa City scored 81%, which brought him to the 10th spot.
The ratings and rankings are greatly dependent on the lawmakers’ job performances, according to Dr. Paul Martinez, Executive Director of RPMD.
The 253 district representatives were assessed by their constituents on “representation,” “legislation,” and “constituent service,” RPMD said in a statement.
“The top performing district representatives should be recognized and commended for their outstanding public service,” said Martinez.
“RPMD will continue its efforts to provide the government decision-makers as well as policymakers with relevant and significant data that impacts the lives of Filipinos, the group said.
Dr. Martinez added they will also conduct performance assessments among government officials or government institutions independently as part of their group’s contribution to society.
The RPMD Year 2021 Public Satisfaction Survey is an independent, non-commissioned national survey conducted per district or city in each region.
RPMD tapped 10,000 respondents in 253 districts who were asked “Do you approve or disapprove of [name of District Representative] in handling his/her job?”
