Newly designated Metro Manila Police commander Brig. Gen. Jonnnel Estomo on Thursday commended his men assigned in Manila and Northern Police districts for their latest seizure of P3.6 million worth of shabu and arrest of eight suspected drug traffickers.

The contrabands were confiscated during three separate police operations conducted late Wednesday night and early Thursday morning also resulted in the arrest of eight suspected drug dealers, including a high value target, and the confiscation of a firearm.

In Manila, operatives of the Malate Police Station – Drug Enforcement Unit arrested Joel Gan Jr., alias Nok, 28, and Micaella Malto, 26, during a buy-bust operation along San Andres Street near Osmeña Highway around 10:40 p.m.

Seized from the suspects were 372 grams of shabu worth P2.5 million and a .38-cal revolver loaded with six live ammunitions.

The Northern Police District also made two entrapment operations, one in Barangay 120, Caloocan City, and the other in Barangay Gen. T. De Leon in Valenzuela City which resulted in the arrest of a so-called high value target identified as Arjay Perez.

Charges for violation of Sections 5, 26 and Section 11 of Art. II of Republic Act 9165, and Art. 151 of the Revised Penal Code are being prepared against the suspects.

“Our effective strategy to combat illegal drugs in the Metro Manila does not enervate. We will continuously apprehend sellers and sources to totally eradicate drugs in our region,” Estomo said.

“As Team NCRPO enhances its battle against the proliferation of illegal drugs in the Metro, we are very proud of the continuous achievements of the schemes being implemented in arresting drug personalities and confiscation in huge quantities of illegal drugs,” he added.
