About 65 percent or 7,145 examinees of a total 11,033 members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) have passed the National Police Commission’s (NAPOLCOM) Special Qualifying Eligibility Examination (NSQE) held on May 29.

The Bangsamoro Information Office said the exam result was released on Monday, July 12, or two months after the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) conducted the exam in the cities of Cotabato and Lamitan.

Mohd Asnin Pendatun, Cabinet Secretary of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, said the regional government was very grateful they had a high passing rate for the qualifying exam.

“We are very happy because the sacrifice of our applicants has paid off. We understand that the validation process of the application is meticulous because we have to ensure that applicants are legitimate MILF and MNLF members,” he added.

Pendatun also clarified speculation that bribery occurred during the recruitment of aspiring MILF and MILF members.

“The payoffs we’ve been hearing is just speculation, and no other expenses or ‘under the table’ payments were needed or paid for. Rest assured there were no additional or extraordinary payments made except for those who took the test,” he said.

The NSQE is in keeping with Republic Act 11054 or the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL), which mandates former MILF and MNLF members to become eligible for temporary appointment to the rank of patrolman or patrolwoman in the Philippine National Police (PNP).
