Angeles City—The local government here under Mayor Carmelo Lazatin, Jr. has been cited as one the qualifiers in the search for 2021 Good Financial Housekeeping recipients.

This is according to the after-assessment compliance of the Department of Interior and Local Government for the additional passers of the CY 2021 Good Financial Housekeeping as of May 27, 2022.

Lazatin said that the Good Financial Housekeeping citation is one of the criteria for the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG).

“This citation is for the city government’s efforts in showcasing excellence in fiscal accountability and transparency,” Lazatin added.

“Simula pa lamang po noon, hangad po natin ang tapat na pagseserbisyo sa mga Angeleños, added bonus na lamang po ang mga ganitong citations. Maraming salamat po sa DILG,” Lazatin quipped.

While this gives distinction to remarkable performances by local governments, it also shows good auditing standards and financial handling in the recent Commission on Audit (CoA) findings and opinion.

Other assessment criteria aside from financial administration and sustainability includes disaster preparedness, social protection and sensitivity, health compliance and responsiveness, and many more governance areas.

City Treasurer Juliet Quinsaat meanwhile said the city government is doing its best to sustain good performance for the public welfare, especially that the Lazatin administration continues to provide programs prioritizing social services.

“Ang layunin po talaga ng administrasyon ni Mayor Lazatin ay maging effective service-providers para sa mga Angeleños. This is fueled by the desire for honest and trust-worthy service,” Quinsaat said.

This is not the first time that the city government was cited in any certification process or award-giving body.

To recall, the Department of Trade and Industry hailed the Angeles City Government as the Top 5 Most Improved Highly-Urbanized City (HUC) in the competitiveness index for the year 2021. Recently, the Bureau of Local Government Finance also recognized Angeles City as Top 6 nationwide in terms of collection efficiency of locally-sourced revenues.
