Police reported on Saturday that a total of 105 alcoholics were apprehended in Metro Manila for violating the Commission on Elections’ (Comelec) liquor ban imposed on May 8 and 9.

“We have arrested 105 persons who violated our liquor ban implemented at the dawn of May 8 up to the midnight of May 9,” said Lt. Col. Jenny Tecson, spokesperson of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) during the Laging Handa briefing.

“It was considered a violation of election laws. Complaints were filed against them,” she added.

Tecson also reported that the NCRPO had not recorded any election-related violent incident in the metropolis.

“We can say that the elections in the NCR were very peaceful because we had not recorded any election-related violent incident,” she said.

Tecson also said the so-called Black Friday protest conducted by different groups at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) was “orderly and peaceful.”

The protesters condemned the alleged lapses committed by the Comelec during the elections.
