THE Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) together with the Frontliners Ang Bida Party-list is calling for a fair, honest and peaceful national election on May 9, encouraging every presidential candidate to respect the will of the people.

PDP-Laban President Alfonso Cusi and Frontliners Ang Bida Party-list first nominee Jayke Joson gave their 100-percent support to the call of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s “free and credible” election during PDP-Laban’s campaign sortie in Tala, North Caloocan attended by 50,000 people last Tuesday.

“Let’s just accept the will of the people. If it goes our way, thank you. If we were not chosen, they have the reason and we should respect it,” Cusi, the Energy Secretary, said. “Don’t give the President an ‘overtime.’ Let’s just have a credible and honest election.”

Joson, the former actor and producer who will be representing the millions of frontliners all over the country, said the President and the Commission Election (Comelec) would not let a failure of election happen in his last days at the office.

“We are thankful to hear the President’s assurance of a safe and credible election. Our frontliners will also be part of this successful election,” Joson said, referring to the police, soldiers, barangay workers, doctors, nurses, medical staff and food delivery boys who will also be working during the elections.

President Duterte and Cusi did not single out any candidate upon calling for a peaceful and honest election in Caloocan, but they warned that those who will sabotage the election for their own personal interests will be prosecuted.

“As long as there’s no cheating, we are with them. We do not want to hear from anyone that if they don’t win, there will be chaos and form of sabotages. That’s not the election should be and we’re against it. Our President won’t allow this to happen during his term,” Cusi added.

The Frontliners Ang Bida Partylist #111, AKO OFW #10 and Sandugo #77 are the party-lists endorsed by the PDP-Laban and were all present in the campaign sortie also attended by aspiring senators Robin Padilla, Rey Langit, Greco Belgica, lawyer Salvador Panelo, Rep. Dante Marcoleta, and Astra Pimentel.

Caloocan aspiring mayor Along Malapitan and aspiring congressman Oca Malapitan, the incumbent city mayor, were also endorsed by Duterte along with PDP-Laban’s senatorial guest candidates Gibo Teodoro, Rep. Loren Legarda, Jinggoy Estrada, Mark Villar, and former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque.

Senator Bong Go also joined President Duterte, DOE Sec. Cusi, PDP Laban Secretary-General and Cabinet Secretary Melvin Matibag, and first district Laguna congressional candidate Ann Matibag in Caloocan.

The Frontliners Ang Bida Party-list is aiming to double hazard pay, tax-free allowance, free insurance policies for all frontliners, and the abolishment of the no-work, no-pay policy for sick frontliners.

Frontliners is one of 178 party-list candidate groups vying for 63 potential seats in the House of Representatives.
