LPA to bring weekend rains over most of PH

State weather forecasters said Friday scattered rains and thunderstorms would be experienced in Mindanao and other parts of the country due to the low pressure area and intertropical convergence zone, located 185 km east northeast of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte.

PAGASA said it was also monitoring a tropical storm outside of the Philippine area of responsibility which was last monitored at 2,215 kilometers east of Mindanao.

It has sustained maximum winds of 75 kilometers per hour, and gustiness of up to 90 kph and was moving north northwestward at 10 kph.

According to PAGASA’s 4 p.m. weather forecast, Visayas, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, and Quezon will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms with possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to at times heavy rains.

Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Ifugao, Mountain Province, and Aurora will have cloudy skies with rains due to Northeasterly Surface Windflow.

Ilocos Region, Abra, and Benguet will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms with possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, Luzon and Visayas will have moderate to strong wind speed forecast, while coastal water conditions will be moderate to rough.

Both moderate wind speed forecast and coastal water conditions will be experienced in Mindanao.
