Presidential candidate Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso said he is honored and grateful to be associated with Aksyon Demokratiko founded by the late Senator Raul Roco as he thanked the political party’s leadership for the support they have shown to him in his presidential campaign.

“It is a great honor for us to use and help Aksyon Demokratiko as a party so I’m really honored and grateful to the Roco family to be with them,” Domagoso said in a press conference in Sorsogon City shortly after a town hall meeting at the Sorsogon Provincial Gymnasium.

“And I guarantee you this, Bo Roco and other members of Aksyon Demokratiko here in Bicol are really supporting us,” he added.

Roco’s son Bo was present during the town hall meeting which was also attended by Aksyon Demokratiko vice presidential candidate Doc Willie Ong and senatorial bets Dr. Carl Balita, Samira Ong and Jopet Sison, and guest candidate John Castriciones.

Roco said Domagoso is very much qualified to run the affairs of the country.

He said the 47-year-old city mayor can replicate across the whole country what he has done in Manila in the less than three years that he was local chief executive.

“We are all excited. This exercise is easy on us in the family, having a qualified candidate to be leader of the country and his running under Aksyon. We are all proud of Isko and we believe he can do it,” Roco said.

Roco said this is the first time since 2004 that Aksyon Demokratiko fielded a presidential candidate. His father, Raul, ran for president in 1998 and 2004.

While admitting that Sorsogon province is dominated by the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), Roco said Sorsoganons and Bicolanos as a whole look at the character and track record of presidential candidates.

Roco cited as example the case of his father who got around 90 percent of the Bicol vote in the 2004 national elections despite not having enough support from the start.
