More Pinoys home from Ukraine, 21 seamen on Tuesday

More Filipinos from Ukraine arrived in Manila yesterday, the Department of Foreign Affairs said as 21 seafarers are set to be repatriated Tuesday.

In a statement, DFA said four Filipino adults, 3 Filipino-Ukrainian children and their Ukrainian mothers arrived Sunday afternoon via a Qatar Airlines flight.

The batch of evacuees came from Kyiv and other areas in the western part of Ukraine, and left from Warsaw Saturday.

Another group of two Filipino adults, a Filipino-Ukrainian child and his Ukrainian mother are also expected to arrive Sunday, while a group of three Filipinos from Kyiv also left for Manila on their account.

The DFA said a group of 21 Filipino seafarers from Ukraine are also expected to arrive on Tuesday.

“Good news! Twenty-one seafarers of MV S-Breeze arriving on 8 March and 13 crew members of Star Helena were evacuated from Chornomorsk, Ukraine to Moldova are now awaiting repatriation,” DFA Undersecretary Sarah Lou Arriola posted on her Twitter account.

The 21 seafarers were extracted from MV-S Breeze at the Port of Odessa in Ukraine between Feb. 27 to March 1.

The DFA official said the Filipino seafarers were able to enter Chisinau, Moldova. From there, the Filipinos were transported to Romania where they arrived on March 4.

They will be arriving via Philippine Airlines PR659 on Tuesday night.

There are still about 116 Filipinos in Ukraine.
