NCR reelectionists dominate survey

Majority of incumbent officials in Metro Manila who are running for reelection or for another position remain the most desired candidates, a recent survey conducted by RP-Mission and Development Foundation Inc. (RPMD) showed.

In Quezon City, Mayor Joy Belmonte was the choice of 65 percent of the survey respondents compared to the 32 percent acquired by Anakalusugan party-list Rep. Mike Defensor.

In Navotas City, Mayor Toby Tiangco, who is seeking a congressional seat, remained the favored choice at 87 percent against Gardy Cruz, who had 10 percent. Rep. John Rey Tiangco, who is running for mayor, sustained his lead at 83 percent versus RC Cruz at 11 percent.

In Caloocan City, Rep. Dale Malapitan posted 73 percent compared to Rep. Egay Erice at 26 percent for the mayoralty post. For the congressional race, Mayor Oca Malapitan lead the pack at 87 percent.

Rep. Ruffy Biazon enjoyed a wide lead for the mayoralty post in Muntinlupa City at 71 percent against Marc Red Marina at 28 percent.
In Pasig City, 68 percent of the respondents placed their bet on incumbent Mayor Vico Sotto while 31 percent said they would support Vice Mayor Iyo Bernardo.

Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna in Manila posted 57 percent of the vote, followed by Rep. Amado Bagatsing at 30 percent and Alex Lopez at 11 percent.

Additional frontrunners are Mayors Abby Binay of Makati City (95 percent), Imelda Aguilar of Las Piñas (89 percent), Ike Ponce III of Pateros (82 percent), Francis Zamora of San Juan (88 percent), Emi Calixto Rubiano of Pasay (76 percent), and Marcy Teodoro of Marikina (55 percent).

The “Halalan 2022 NCR Survey” utilized random sampling with a total of 10,000 registered voters. It had 1,000 to 1,500 respondents in big cities with a margin of error +/- 2.5 to 3 percent.
