Pacquiao to probe graft, EJK under Rody admin

Presidential aspirant and Senator Manny Pacquiao has vowed to investigate allegations of corruption and extrajudicial killings (EJK) under the Duterte administration if he wins the May 9 elections.

“First, corruption, because it is the worst cancer in our country. Second, the reported EJK which is against the law. Justice must be served to those who have been abused and oppressed,” he said in Filipino when asked what issues involving the present administration he intends to probe during a television interview aired Saturday.

Pacquiao, however, said he is not a vengeful person and is even open to appointing his rivals to a Cabinet position should he win the upcoming presidential race.

“If they have the skills and the requirements for me to accomplish my goals for our country, why not? We want development in our country, so anyone who can help a lot is welcome to join,” he said.

“Not all allies can meet the requirements. If I put you there, I want your input. There must be development and improvement every six months to a year. If you fail to accomplish anything, I will replace you,” he added.

Pacquiao urged Filipinos to vote for him because of his “sincerity and willingness to help fellow countrymen.”

He said one’s educational background should not be a deal-breaker in choosing a presidential candidate.

“Every election, candidates are proud of their diploma and degree, but what happened to us? We are still struggling and the people remain hungry,” he said.

“An educational background is necessary, but you must have the heart for public service as well. That’s what’s important,” Pacquiao added.
