Malacanang has appointed former Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Executive Director Jennifer Joy Chua Ong as associate justice of the Court of Appeals (CA).
In a transmittal letter sent to the office of Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea informed the chief magistrate of the appointment of Ong as CA magistrate vice retired Associate Justice Luisa Padilla.
At the time Ong was appointed, she was serving as undersecretary in the Office of the Appointments Secretary of the Office of the President.
Justice Ong took her oath of office on Friday afternoon before Chief Justice Gesmundo at the Supreme Court’s session hall.
Ong, from Davao City, earned her law degree from the Ateneo de Manila University.
