TABUK CITY, Kalinga—The local government and police office announced the mounting of closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras in strategic areas in the city.

The Sangguniang Panglungsod approved a resolution authorizing Mayor Ferdinand Tubban to enter into a memorandum with the Tabuk City Police Office (TCPO) for the installation of CCTV cameras in strategic locations on city streets.

According to the memorandum, the recorded data in the CCTVs will boost the crime efficiency capability of the TCPO.

The council has asked chief of police P/Supt. Gilbert Fati-ig to identify areas of concern where CCTV cameras can be installed.

During the session, the SP highlighted the importance of installing CCTV cameras and the putting up of street lights in the province’s peace and order program.

The council ordered the TCPO to prepare the budget for their implementation and maintenance.

Prior to this development, the city government also looked into the possibility of requiring every establishment to have their own CCTV camera when securing a business permit, since well-known corporations have confirmed their intention to expand their operations to this City of Matagoan.

One big corporation that has secured a business permit is a popular fastfood chain that will start operating in December.

According to local government, this fastfood chain has interviewed hundreds of applicants, mostly from Tabuk City and Kalinga province.

The TCPO crime solution efficiency statistics from January to July show an increase from 79.25 percent in January to 81.68 percent in July. The total crime volume average during the period was 53.86 percent and the crime solution average was 46.26 percent.
