Former Vice President Jejomar Binay on Friday said he is grateful that three presidential aspirants in the May 9, 2022 elections listed him as a guest candidate in their respective senatorial slates.

“I would like to thank Vice President Leni Robredo, Senator Manny Pacquiao, and Senator Ping Lacson for including me as a guest candidate in their respective senatorial slates,” said Binay in a statement.

“Our task is to rebuild our country and restore the dignity of every Filipino. The pandemic has made responding to this challenge even more urgent, and unity more compelling. We need to build the broadest unity possible for the sake of our children, grandchildren, and future generations,” he added.

If elected, Binay said he will prioritize helping the four million Filipinos who lost their jobs, the over three million families who are experiencing hunger, and the thousands of small businesses who had no choice but to close down during the health crisis brought by coronavirus disease 2019.

He will also help the government to improve the health care system.

“The safety, welfare, and well-being of the people should always be our foremost concern,” he said.

Binay, a human rights lawyer during martial law, is being considered as a political icon and the longest-serving mayor of Makati. He was the city chief executive from 1986 to 1998, and from 2001 to 2010 before serving the country as vice president during the time of the late former President Benigno Aquino III.

He was the first local government official appointed by Aquino’s mother, also the late former President Corazon Aquino after the 1986 EDSA Revolution.
